Well, thanks Prison Break for killing off Dr. Sara Tancredi in the most gruesome way imaginable. Having Lincoln find Sara’s severed head is, I suppose, better than having Michael find it. I wonder if they really needed her death to be so final and straightforward. Wouldn’t it have been nice to leave the story open giving Dr. Tancredi the chance to return later? I haven’t watched Prison Break since early Season 2 (mostly because the show exhausted me), but certainly somewhere down the road (perhaps the series finale) it would have pleased the fans to see a Dr. Tancredi/Michael reunion. Also, what’s with the killing off of the only other major female character from Season 1? I know that Veronica (Robin Tunney) was slightly annoying at times and didn’t do a whole hell of a lot, but having her shot in the head was pretty heartless too. According to this article, Prison Break executive producer, Matt Olmstead said that killing off Dr. Tancredi this way was not revenge for the actor Sarah Wayne Callies, deciding not negotiate a new contract. I find that hard to believe. To me, it seems to be an emotional decision on the part of the producers of Prison Break. Otherwise, why would they have been so stupid not to leave the option of Dr. Tancredi returning? Certainly Sarah Wayne Callies would be more willing to return once her family life settles down a bit (she just had a baby, after all). It’s understandable that she wouldn’t want to put the added stress on her family for only part of a season, especially when she was led to believe that she would be on for the full season. Whatver the motivations were for the producers’ decision, it was an extremely hasty one.
