And the Emmy for Best Reality Tv Host goes to….

February 27, 2008

There might be a new category come September’s Prime Time Emmy Awards.  TV Guide is reporting that a new category for reality television show hosts is probable.  This addition will surely give more credibility to reality shows.  Although, shows like Paradise Hotel 2, The Swan, Who Wants to Marry a Millionaire, Average Joe, etc will continue to give a bad name to reality tv.  People tend to think of these trashy shows first before considering that quality shows like Project Runway, Top Chef, The Amazing Race, and Survivor represent positive things about reality television.

Who are your favorite reality show hosts?  Here are my nominees:

Jeff Probst, Survivor; Phil Keoghan, The Amazing Race; Ryan Seacrest, American Idol (reluctantly, but you had to admit that he is a hard worker); Tim Gunn (if he qualifies), Project Runway; Julie Chen, Big Brother

I am, of course, only joking about Julie Chen.  She’s a terrible host and is probably only employed by CBS because of her marriage to the President of CBS, Les Moonves.  Who would you nominate in her place?  Have I left anyone out of the nominations?

TV’s hottest couples?

January 8, 2008

TVGuide revealed the results of their hottest tv couples poll , and I must say that I am very surprised.  Make that pleasantly surprised.  I won’t give anything away, but I invite you to peruse the list and comment on notably absent pairs.

Oh yeah, and the Golden Globes were cancelled.  In its place will be a press conference announcing the winners.  We all saw that one coming, right?

The Golden Globe nominations make me yawn….

December 13, 2007

I should clarify that I am referring to the television nominations and not the movie nominations.  My biggest complaint is the lack of recognition for Friday Night Lights and How I Met Your Mother.  I always thought that the Golden Globes were not supposed to be as stuffy as the Emmy’s, but that doesn’t seem to be the case at all.  At least they had the decency to nominate Neil Patrick Harris in the supporting actor comedy series category (even if they did give the award to Jeremy Piven, who is SO overrated).  Speaking of Jeremy Piven and Entourage, how many people from that show need a nomination in the Best Supporting Actor TV series category especially when the Golden Globes combines all the tv shows (both comedy and drama) into one category?  Were both Piven’s and Dillon’s performances so jaw-dropping and wonderful that they needed to hog two spaces in an already crowded category?  I have seen Entourage a few times, and it really doesn’t live up to all the hype.

There are a few nice surprises on the list of nominees though–the recognition of Anna Friel and Lee Pace for Pushing Daisies.  Other than that, it’s the same old story.

What do you think of the nominations?  Here is the complete list.
