Newport Harbor: College is, like, totally different from high school

Ok, so maybe Chrissy didn’t actually say it like that, but I felt that she was giving Clay the runaround at the beach.  That is one of the most clichéd things to say when breaking up with someone, second only to the old “it’s not you, it’s me” line.  I liked Chrissy alot better than LB3’s painfully boring narrator, Tessa, and I had high hopes for her.  Other than an extremely overprotective father (he called to check up on her incessantly and accompanied her to Palm Springs–for spring break, I believe), she seemed so much more grounded than past narrators for The Real Orange County.  She also seemed like a genuinely nice girl with morals and some social consciousness.  She wasn’t the queen bee like Kristin from LB2 or the mean, bitchy girl from LB3 (Kyndra or Cami).  Chrissy was the nice, popular girl–the one who wasn’t snobby.  That’s why I was so disappointed in her behavior towards Clay.  She seemed like she was trying to place the blame on him for showing up unexpectedly.  Saying that things would have been different if he hadn’t shown up randomly at the party is like saying, “I’m sorry I got caught,” not “I’m sorry that I have been stringing you along for all these weeks.”

Can we just talk about Billy for a moment?  I don’t understand what she sees in him.  He isn’t insanely good looking, doesn’t have a great personality, or appear to be of above average intelligence.  He’s completely….average.  Some might argue that Clay doesn’t have the most interesting personality either, but his innocence was refreshing.  I am impressed by the fact that he can be best friends with Spencer 2.0 (Grant) and not be influenced by Grant’s tendencies to be a player and desires to “abuse his manhood.”  Although, that might all be changing next week as it appears that Clay attempts to make Chrissy jealous by getting drunk and having two girls at his side (Taylor and Alli).

What do you think of Chrissy’s decision to end things with Clay?  Was it me or did Grant actually give some decent advice to Clay?
